Prayer & Worship

Sunderland Minster is home to a Christian worshipping community within the wider family and traditions of the Church of England. We are a diverse and multi-national congregation and now we welcome many Iranian Christians as part of our fellowship. Come and join us!

SUNDAYS

9.45 – 11.00 a.m. Sung Eucharist:

This is a sung service of Holy Communion following Common Worship. During part of the service, children’s activities are usually available. Refreshments are served  after the service.

11.30 – 12.15 noon ‘Feast’ (except during August):

An informal, all-age service including Bible story-telling and responding to what we have heard through a choice of craft activities – not just for children! – discussion or quiet reflection – not just for adults! This service includes a Farsi bible study group which many from our Iranian community attend. We usually start about 11.30 am

If you are interested in joining our choir, you are most welcome to attend any of these services and afterwards to speak with our choir master and organist, Mr David Cox. The choir rehearses weekly, at 7.00 p.m. on Thursdays. New members are most welcome. Sunderland Minster also hosts the Bishopwearmouth Choral Society – with some over-lap between choirs, for those who love to sing!
